Wimbledon Strawberries and Cream

Another great Women’s Finals match at Wimbledon today, Serena Williams claims her fifth crown. We always enjoy watching Wimbledon, but what is interesting is the choice of food served at the All England Club. We’re talking about the Strawberries and Cream. A cup of fresh strawberries with cream drizzled over. It somewhat gave us the idea of making our New Strawberry and White Chocolate Layer Cake, which will be coming soon on FantasiCakes. That’s right, soon to come on FantasiCakes…Layer Cakes for Nationwide Delivery!

Pecan Coffee Cake or Pecan Pie?

We’d have to vote for Pecan Coffee Cake. There’s something about Pecan Coffee Cake that makes it a real crowd pleaser. A rich, delicious coffee cake filled and topped with cinnamon pecan streusel! With that sweet white icing to top it all off. Try it today, you will love it ans agree…Pecan Coffee Cake over Pecan Pie. Vists the site at http://fantasicakes.com

Some more information about the Pecan:

A pecan, like the fruit of all other members of the hickory genus, is not truly a nut, but is technically a drupe, a fruit with a single stone or pit, surrounded by a husk. The husks are produced from the exocarp tissue of the flower, while the part known as the nut develops from the endocarp and contains the seed. The nut itself is dark brown, oval to oblong, and broad. The outer husk is thick, starts out green and turns brown at maturity, at which time it splits off in four sections to release the thin-shelled nut.

The nuts of the pecan are edible, with a rich, buttery flavor. They can be eaten fresh or used in cooking, particularly in sweet desserts, but also in some savory dishes. One of the most common desserts with the pecan as a central ingredient is the pecan pie, a traditional southern U.S. recipe. Pecans are also a major ingredient in praline candy, most often associated with New Orleans.
